52 Semanas De Ciencia

52 Weeks of Science is a year-long celebration of science right here in Barrio Logan and Logan Heights. More than 56 organizations have come together in the neighborhood to bring you a year full of discovery through fun science events and opportunities every week. Each event is free and open to all. From astronomy to zoology and everything in between, 52 Weeks of Science is happening here.

Enjoy hands-on demonstrations and interact with scientists, researchers, engineers and more as they reveal their cutting-edge work. Listen to an author share his book highlighting the journey of a seed, or come and look through telescopes and talk to astronomers about the mysteries of space. Interact with robots or explore spectacularly messy science. The calendar below lists upcoming 52 Weeks of Science events!

Have you ever wondered how our brain allows us to speak, move and think? Learn how the brain affects and controls behavior of both humans and animals in this fun, hands-on introduction to neuroscience. Participants will also learn about the cells of the nervous system (neurons) by hearing and seeing real neurons in a cockroach.

Partnering together will broaden and expand exciting hands-on science activities and exhibits at schools, libraries, community centers and other gathering places to foster and further connections to science. Logan Heights and Barrio Logan partners are raising awareness of STEM education by bringing an educational science opportunity to the neighborhood every week throughout the year. This collaboration will create rich environments for science enjoyment, teaching and learning.
