How to Apply

To get started simply follow these steps.

Step 1: Application.

Fill out our online application:

• For volunteers or interns 15-17 years old
• For volunteers or interns 18 years or older

Step 2: Orientation.

We will review your application. If there appears to be a match between your interests/skills and our open positions, we will contact you for further information and/or invite you to an upcoming orientation. This will give us the chance to get to know you better and give you the opportunity to learn more about volunteering here.

Step 3: Background check.

You must have a satisfactory record with no history of violent or sexual crimes or theft.

• We complete a thorough background check on all employees, volunteers and interns who are 18 years or older. This check includes county, state and federal criminal records and databases, as well as sexual offender registries.
• If you are under 18, you will be required to bring in two letters of recommendation from teachers, advisors or supervisors.

Step 4: Training.

We will work together to ensure you start in the volunteer position that will suit you best and meet the Fleet’s needs. Once we have identified that role, you will attend any specific training needed.

Step 5: Volunteer!

You will be able to set a regular schedule or sign up for shifts as you are available, based on the time requirements for your position.
