Cosmology & Cocktails

What mysteries does the universe hold? Where was the center of the Big Bang? How many Earth-like planets might there be in the universe?

Find answers to these and any other cosmology and astronomy questions you might have on Sunday, June 25, as we welcome 50+ cosmologists from all over the United States to the Fleet Science Center.

6 p.m. — A New Era in Cosmology. Lecture featuring:
Brian Keating—Professor of Physics at the University of California San Diego
Renée Hložek—Assistant Professor of Astrophysics at the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics, in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Toronto
Laura Newburgh—Assistant Professor of Physics at Yale University
Eve Vavagiakis—Graduate Student in Physics at Cornell University

7 p.m. — Mingle with Cosmologists
50 Cosmologists stand ready to discuss your questions one-on-one. FREE, but registration is required.

A cash bar and the Fleet’s concession stand will be open for refreshments throughout the evening until 8pm.

8 p.m.—Stargazing on the Prado with our friends from the San Diego Astronomy Association. Cosmologist will still be around to explore the night sky with you! It will be a great night for taking a closer look at Jupiter and Saturn (weather permitting). FREE, NO registration required!
