Why do you put an expiration date on IMAX vouchers?
Memberships run for one year. The IMAX vouchers are a financial
liability. In a responsibly-run organization, there must be limits
to outstanding financial liabilities. The easiest, fairest and
simplest way to administer the membership program is to make sure
everybody uses their IMAX vouchers during the year they are members.
This is also the reason we do not extend vouchers.
Are my IMAX vouchers transferable?
Yes! Give them away to friends, neighbors and out-of-town guests.
In fact, you do not even need to be present when they are redeemed.
We make it as easy as possible for you to use up all your vouchers
before they expire.
How much of my membership is tax-deductible?
No portion of the Family, Individual, Senior or Exhibit Experience membership is deductible. The tax-deductible portion of memberships at $150 and above will be printed on a form sent with your cards. If you have any questions, contact the Membership Office directly at membership@rhfleet.org or (619) 238-1233, ext. 819. (Tax-deductible portions are for advisory purposes only. As always, we encourage you to consult your own financial advisor.)
Why is my Discovery Society card NOT transferable?
Discovery Society cards (for Adventurer, Voyager, Explorer, Pioneer
and Innovator members) are valid for free, unlimited admission
into IMAX films all year long. It is designed to be used by the
same two individuals each time. It is not fair if some members
pass their Discovery Society cards to their guests instead of
using their IMAX vouchers or purchasing tickets.
What is a "Special Event"?
A "Special Event" is a film or program for which a membership
benefit may be restricted or excluded. For example, IMAX vouchers
and Discovery Society cards may not be valid for some special
event films because the films are presented for a limited engagement.

What is the Fleet’s privacy policy?
We respect your privacy. Your e-mail address will never be traded
or released to any outside organization. From time to time, we
send regular mailings (snail mail) about other non-profits. (The
other company never sees your address.) If you prefer not to receive
these "reciprocal mailings," please e-mail your name
and I.D. number or call the Membership Office.
What do I do about lost cards and IMAX vouchers?
Contact the Membership Office right away. We will issue replacements.
My cards and vouchers never arrived. What should I do?
Contact the Membership Office right away and we will arrange for
replacements. Invariably we find that the cards and vouchers were
mailed. Sometimes the U.S. Postal Service did not deliver the
packet; sometimes we do not have the correct address (or the member
has moved). Often, the member threw the packet out, not realizing
what was inside.
What publications do members receive?
Members receive the following publications:
- Every month, we send a flyer that includes information about current films, exhibitions and education programs. (Members with e-mail addresses receive this publication via e-mail.)
- Facets is a quarterly publication about donors and news from the Fleet Science Center.
- Once a year, our Annual Report presents a review of the previous year.
If you have not received at least one of these publications within one month after you join or renew, that means we do not have your current snail-mail or e-mail address. Please contact the Membership Office right away.
(E-Update, a monthly bulletin, is mailed to members and non-members who have given us their e-mail address. The member publications are a member benefit; e-Update is not.)
Who is included in my Family membership?
Two adults and up to 6 children under 18 living in the same household.
(Alternately, two grandparents and up to 6 grandchildren under 18.)
Who can purchase a Senior membership?
Persons who are 65 years of age and above qualify for Senior prices
at the Fleet Science Center.
Why don’t you give a membership card to children?
Children under 18 are included in their parents’ Family
membership. They do not need a separate card.
Are my IMAX vouchers valid at any other facility?
No. Every IMAX theater is independently managed. You must use
your IMAX vouchers at the Fleet Science Center, and you must use
them before they expire.
