FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, PLEASE:

San Diego, CA—March 20, 2013— Discover the wonders of space during the Fleet’s Spring Break Camps 2013, open for registration now! Sign up now for your kids to blast off the week of April 1-5 at Spectacular Space!, five fun days filled with space-themed activities dedicated to hands-on science explorations for Grades 1-2 and 3-4. Explore the mysteries of our solar system in our new “Great Balls of Fire” exhibition, learn about space travel by building rockets and blast off on a simulated mission to the International Space Station in our Nierman Challenger Learning Center. Explore planets, comets, meteors, asteroids, life as an astronaut, and rockets. With a different theme each day, kids can join us for a single day or enroll for the entire week.

Monday, April 1 check out The Terrestrial Planets––investigate our closest neighbors in the solar system. Why is Venus so hot? Can we really build a space station on Mars? Find out the answers to these questions and many more.

Tuesday, April 2 travel to The Gas Giants and identify intriguing characteristics of the outer planets in our solar system. Discover what Saturn’s rings are made of, explore the moons of Jupiter, and investigate the weather on Neptune.

Wednesday, April 3 search the skies for Comets, Meteors and Asteroids. Have you ever wondered what comets are made of? Investigate these amazing––and dangerous––near-earth objects, with hands-on experiments and a visit to our “Great Balls of Fire” exhibition.

Thursday, April 4 everybody prepare to Fly to Space! Experience what it’s like to live and work like an astronaut! Travel to the International Space Station in our Nierman Challenger Learning Center, create your own astronaut gear and design tools to make life in space a little less complicated.

Friday, April 5 close out the week with DIY Rocket Science. 3.2.1. Blast off! Launch into this hands-on day of rocketry while uncovering the propulsion principles that send real rockets into space. Design, build and launch all types of rockets and other spacecraft.
