Where
is the cake served?
The
one-hour cake time takes place inside the Science Center
in one of our private, decorated rooms. Depending on
the available room, we blow up balloons and hang up
streamers to make it look more festive. Some rooms,
such as the Challenger Briefing room, have permanent
pictures and illustrations that have been donated over
the years. We ask for all party attendees
to observe good conduct inside our rooms, especially the
Challenger Briefing room. Balloons are not allowed outside
the party room, nor outside the Science Center in Balboa
Park.
Do
you have any time specifications or time limitations to the party?
There
is a one-hour table time for the birthday cake. The group
has access to the Exhibit Galleries for the entire day.
We
are looking to achieve a particular theme, so can I bring my
own paper products?
Normally,
the Fleet provides all the decorative paper products. But if
you want to achieve a particular theme, you are welcome to bring
your own table covers, paper plates, etc. Just let the Fleet’s
Events Manager know what you want to do. There will be no reduction
in prices in the event that you decide to bring your own products.
If
I bring my own gift bags, can they be stored until we are ready
to hand them out?
Yes,
we can store them in a secure area until they’re ready
to be handed out.
What
is the timeline of a typical birthday party?
The
timeline of the party depends on how long you and your group
decide to stay in the galleries and if you're adding an IMAX
movie or the 30-minute workshop during the day. We prefer to
have the timed activities (lunch, IMAX and/or workshop) back-to-back
for easy scheduling purposes.
What
are the additional food items that I can have at the party?
The add-on
menu choices from Galileo's Café are cheese or pepperoni
pizzas. Unfortunately no outside floor items are allowed.
May
we arrange for someone from the museum to lead my group?
We
do have "birthday hosts". (He/she will be your point
of contact on the event day). Your host will be available at
the beginning of the party and throughout the duration of the
cake/food time to help with questions and any last minute needs.
The Birthday Host will also pre-seat the group in the event
that you add-on an IMAX movie. The Exhibit Galleries are designed
for self-exploration.
What
happens if I overestimate or underestimate the number of people
attending the party? Will you run out of food?
Your
estimate is just that, an estimate. We use it as a guide for
reserving theater seats and food preparation. We do require
a final count of attendees when you process the payment on the
day of the Birthday Party.
Regarding
the cost, is the $15.95/$20.95 fee for the additional adults
as well?
Yes,
the cost of the Birthday Package per person is for both kids
and adults.
If you don't want to pay for the adults for the party package,
you can advise any adult guests that they can purchase their
admission ticket at the Box Office, like any regular patron,
so that they can join the party. However, seating and food arrangements
will be made only for the number of party guests you are paying
for.
How
and when do I pay?
For
your convenience, The Fleet accepts all major credit cards,
checks and of course, cash. Typically, payment is collected
sometime before cake is served or before your group enters the
galleries or theater. Due to our ticketing system, we must collect
payment before any groups enter the theater.
Is
the price inclusive -- or is there any tax or service charge?
All
of the prices are all inclusive. Please remember this price
is per person no matter if they’re kids or adults.
Don't
hesitate!
Call
now to book a birthday party your child will not soon forget!
