Communicating with Technology—Summer 2019

This workshop will focus on lecture, discussion and hands-on learning with the technologies we use to communicate, such as smartphones and tablets. Topics will include cloud computing, productivity, operating systems, web browsers, Google, Apple and Microsoft tools, social networks, photography, online safety and more. Workshops are geared towards 55 or better but everyone 18 or older is welcome. Bringing your own device for more direct hands-on learning is encouraged. Enroll in the class anytime.

Explore the science and magic of Harry Potter through video clips, presentations, discussions, activities and artwork. Activities will include using parseltongue, giants and squibs to learn about genetics and trait prediction; using Marauder’s Map to understand acid/base chemistry; and additional explorations into fantastic beasts, herbology and more. Science has never been so magical!

Introduction to Circuits Using Makey-Makey

Introduction to Circuits Using Makey-Makey

Do electronics and bananas go together? Absolutely! Using Makey Makey circuit boards, students will create fun circuits that incorporate everyday items like gummy bears, aluminum foil or bouncy balls. Students will then use their new circuitry skills to make games, music or art.

Registration for this event will be open from July 31 at 12 a.m. to August 31 at 5 p.m.

This workshop is intended for students in 6th to 8th grade.
