Eight of the most popular IMAX films ever presented at the Fleet, all in one day!

 

Grab some popcorn and enjoy a day of cinematic wonders as the Fleet screens your favorite films at this year’s IMAX Film Festival. From the depths of the ocean to the caldera of a volcano to the forests of China, each of these top-rated films will transport you to wondrous places with the breathtaking cinematography that can only be experienced in an IMAX dome theater. We’ve curated the best films from 1991 to 2018 to present in the Heikoff Giant Dome Theater, so come and experience a film you’ve always wanted to see or share a favorite with a friend.  

 

The IMAX Film Festival is Sunday, February 23 and a different film will screen each hour from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. See below for a complete schedule. Admission to one film is included with your regular Fleet ticket or members may use their vouchers.

Born to Be Wild (2011): From the rainforests of Borneo to the Kenyan savannah, follow two teams of experts as they rescue, rehabilitate and return orangutans and elephants back to the wild. [40 minutes.]

Under the Sea (2009): Experience face-to-face encounters with some of the most mysterious and stunning creatures of the sea in the most exotic and isolated locations on Earth, including southern Australia and Papua New Guinea. [40 minutes.] 

Flight of the Butterflies (2012): Join the monarchs' perilous and extraordinary journey as it makes one of the longest migrations on Earth across a continent, and a scientist’s 40-year search to find the monarchs’ secret hideaway. [44 minutes.]

Everest (1998): Experience the dramatic story of a team of climbers who found hope, strength and triumph in the wake of tragedy on the world’s highest mountain. [44 minutes.]

National Parks Adventure (2016): Head out on the ultimate off-trail adventure into the nation’s awe-inspiring great outdoors and untamed wilderness. [40 minutes.] 

Hubble (2010): Featuring stunning imagery of distant galaxies, planets and the birth of stars, Hubble showcases NASA’s last mission to service one of history’s most important observatories. [44 minutes.]  

Pandas (2018): Join Qian Qian the panda on an exciting new adventure in the mountains of Sichuan as she takes her first steps outside of her protected habitat and discovers her true animal nature. [40 minutes.] 

Ring of Fire (1991): This film showcases the immense natural forces of the great circle of volcanoes and seismic activity that ring the Pacific Ocean, and the varied people and cultures that coexist with them. [42 minutes.]
