The Fleet Science Center hosts full-day Fall Camps for Grades 1-3

Camps start Monday, November 25, and end Wednesday, November 27

San Diego, CA—The Fleet Science Center offers exciting options to help keep kids active and learning about science and technology during fall break. Students in grades 1-3 can enjoy experimenting with movie special effects, exploring the world of virtual reality and making their own videos with the Fleet's Tinkering and Technology Camps.

The Fleet's full-day Fall Camps are offered from Monday, November 25, through Wednesday, November 27. The camps take place at the Fleet and feature fun, educational, hands-on activities for kids in grades 1 through 3.

Registration for Fall Camps is now open. Camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Attendees can sign up for a single day or enroll for multiple days of fun. Prices are $60 per day for members, $65 per day for nonmembers, per camp.

The Fleet Science Center also offers extended-day services during camp. Early drop off is available 8-9 a.m., and late pick up is 4-5 p.m. For an additional $20, families can choose one or both options to meet their scheduling needs.

Full Camp Descriptions:

Fall Camps

Grades 1-3

Price:  $60 per day for members and $65 per day for nonmembers.

  • November 25: Science Fiction Special Effects. Use science fiction as an inspirational tool to create your own galactic adventure. Campers will build self-propelled moving scribble bots, design hovercrafts and create movie special effects with dry ice.
  • November 26: VR Tech Tools. Explore the world of virtual reality and coding through hands-on activities that make basic coding concepts fun and interactive. Campers will work in teams to construct and program robots to perform to complete an obstacle course.
  • November 27: Lights, Camera, Action. Campers will learn about optics such as long- and short-exposure photography and light and color movement through prisms. This will help them better understand the filming techniques they'll need to direct their own mini- and stop-motion videos with friends.
