Fleetster Friday: Meet Daniel Aguirre

It’s #FleetsterFriday! This week, we’re featuring Community Engagement Manager and City Heights resident, Daniel Aguirre. Daniel is the brains behind the Fleet’s 52 Weeks of Science program and can often be found out in the community, connecting area students and residents to STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) opportunities in their backyard! The 52 Weeks of Science program in the Clairemont community is turning one year old on October 14, and we’re celebrating with a party! Join us at Madison High School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for hands-on science activities, a local STEM career showcase and an unforgettable performance from the Fleet’s Don’t Try This at Home! show.

  • Describe your job in four words.

Actively listening to communities.

  • Complete this sentence: I love science because …

… it proves multiple entry points for meaningful dialog and action.

  • What is your favorite place in Balboa Park?

I love Balboa Park. On days that will be a bit more intense, I make sure to start the day off by walking around the park and just breathing it in. We are lucky, and the park provides me with a reminder of just how much.

  • If you could have dinner with any famous person, alive or dead, who would it be and why?

Robin Williams, because I want to talk about some meaningful stuff and also be massively entertained.

  • What is your favorite tradition or holiday?

I love the World Cup!
