Calcium buildup around faucets and hoses

San Diego imports most of its water. That water travels hundreds of miles through rock and soil, which causes a build-up of minerals. These minerals increase the "hardness" of the water, compared to "soft" water that has fewer or no minerals. Calcium, one mineral found in San Diego water, can leave white stains around faucets and hoses.
